1075 Blue Temper Spring Steel
Our 1075 series spring steel is composed of medium-high carbon which makes for better forming qualities than 1095.
Spring steels are known for their high yield strength, which allows objects made of spring steel to return to their original shape after bending and forming.
Use this steel for your projects that need some bounce back...such as shims, hold down springs, S-tines, lock picks, antennas, clock hands, spring clamps, lock springs, snap springs, and trap springs. It comes in an attractive dark blue/gray color, which varies based on the angle viewed.

AISI 1075 carbon steel can be forged at 927 to 1204°C (1700 to 2200°F) followed by annealing.
Annealing of AISI 1075 carbon steel can be done at 926°C (1700°F) followed by slowly cooling in the furnace.
AISI 1075 carbon steel is tempered at 371 to 705°C (700 to 1300°F) after heating and quenching.
AISI 1075 carbon steel is hardened by cold working, heating, and quenching. Hardened condition is Rockwell C 55.
AISI 1075 carbon steel can be hardened at 899°C (1650°F). It is then quenched in oil followed by tempering.
