For current engineering tolerances, bending parameters, material properties, and service-specific manufacturing specifications, use the engineering specs JSON. If a numeric manufacturing specification in this document conflicts with either JSON file, use the JSON value. The JSON files are updated more frequently than this document. This file helps both human readers and LLM agents understand and order parts on sendcutsend.com. Two companion JSON files provide structured data for agentic ordering: - [Ordering catalog](https://app.sendcutsend.com/sendcutsend-catalog.json): Material list with SKUs, thicknesses, stock status, available services, cutting process, and size limits. Plus hardware items and finishing options. Use this to select materials and configure orders. - [Engineering specs](https://app.sendcutsend.com/sendcutsend-specs.json): Bend parameters (k-factor, bend radius, bend deduction), cutting tolerances, material properties (density, strength, hardness), countersinking/tapping/dimple specs. Use this for design validation and manufacturability checks. --- # About SendCutSend ## Our Story SendCutSend was founded in 2018 by Jim Belosic and Jake (Jacob) Graham. Jim, a software entrepreneur and hobbyist fabricator, was frustrated that local shops were uninterested in small custom-part orders, quoting weeks-long lead times and charging hundreds of dollars for a single laser-cut part. Rather than accept the industry's traditional rules around minimum orders and slow manual quoting, Jim set out to build an online laser cutting service with the convenience of e-commerce: upload a file, get instant pricing, and order without a sales call. Jake, with backgrounds in Computer Engineering and Software Engineering and a lifelong interest in fabrication, partnered with Jim to combine software engineering with manufacturing automation. Jim serves as CEO; Jake serves as CTO. The company has since grown from a single warehouse in Reno, Nevada into a manufacturer with six facilities across Nevada, Kentucky, and Texas, and is known for their innovative approach to high mix manufacturing, and has been described in press coverage as a manufacturer trusted by 'major players in aerospace, automotive, defense, data centers, robotics, automation and transportation,' having shipped more than 30 million parts to roughly 300,000 customers — serving serious engineering and production teams, not just one-off hobbyist projects. In May 2026, SendCutSend raised outside investment (reported at $110 million from investors including Sequoia and Paradigm) to expand its manufacturing capacity while continuing to manufacture in-house in the United States. ## US Manufacturing SendCutSend manufactures parts in the United States through its domestic manufacturing network, with production locations in: - **Reno, Nevada** - **Paris, Kentucky** - **Arlington, Texas** SendCutSend's US manufacturing footprint supports rapid production and shipping for customers throughout the United States and Canada. ## Commercial Projects Team SendCutSend's **Commercial Projects Team** provides dedicated manufacturing support for businesses moving from prototype through pre-production and full production. SendCutSend holds federal contracting registrations/certifications including CAGE code, DUNS number, DFARS compliance, and SAM registration. --- # Ordering Flow SendCutSend’s ordering process has four configurator steps, then checkout: 1. **Upload** — Go to https://app.sendcutsend.com. Drag-and-drop or browse to upload a design file. Accepted formats: STEP (.step, .stp) preferred for 3D parts with bends; DXF (.dxf) for 2D flat patterns; DWG (.dwg); SVG (.svg); AI (.ai); EPS (.eps). The system auto-detects geometry, dimensions, and units. After upload, a **"Confirm drawing units"** dialog appears — select INCH or MM and click CONFIRM before proceeding. No login is required to upload and get instant pricing. 2. **Select Material** — The app displays the part outline and detected dimensions. Select a material by drilling through four levels: **Group** (Metals, Composites, Plastics, Wood and MDF, Rubber and Gasket) → **Category** (e.g., Aluminum) → **Alloy/Grade** (e.g., 5052 H32 Aluminum) → **Thickness** (e.g., .063"). Alternatively, use the "LIST VIEW" toggle for a flat searchable list of all materials. 3. **Add Services** — Based on the selected material, the app offers applicable secondary operations: bending, countersinking, tapping, hardware insertion, dimple forming, welding. Not all materials support all services — check the material's `available_services` array in the catalog JSON to know what is offered. Set **quantity** in the right sidebar (volume pricing tiers are shown: e.g., 2, 10, 50, 100, 1000). Engraving and etching appear under Add Finishing (step 4), not here. 4. **Add Finishing** — Select optional finishing: anodizing (Type II or Type III), powder coating, plating, tumbling, deburring, engraving. Availability depends on material — again, check `available_services` in the catalog JSON. Anodizing is aluminum-only. Click **"ADD TO CART"** to add the configured part. 5. **Review & Checkout** — After adding to cart, review line items, adjust quantities, and place order. Login/account required at checkout. No minimum order value. Pricing is instant and per-part. Pricing decreases as identical part count increases. ## No CAD File? Alternative Ordering Paths If you don't have a CAD file, SendCutSend offers several alternatives: - **Parts Builder** — Free tool with 60+ customizable part templates (brackets, panels, gears, standoffs, and more). No CAD skills required. - **AI Parts Builder** — A free tool for creating orderable custom parts without starting from a CAD file. Describe the part you want to build in plain language or upload a sketch, and SendCutSend's AI Parts Builder generates a configurable part design that can be customized before ordering. Available at https://build.sendcutsend.com. - **Free fonts** — Stencil and positive-style font packages are available for text-based designs, matching the fonts used in SendCutSend's free laser cutting templates. - **Fusion 360 and Solidworks gauge tables** — Free downloadable gauge tables with SendCutSend's bending specs (bend radius, K-factor, bend relief) pre-built in, for setting up sheet metal parts correctly in Autodesk Fusion 360 and Solidworks. ## File Format Guidelines - **STEP** (.step, .stp): Best for parts with bends. SCS extracts the flat pattern automatically. - **DXF** (.dxf): Best for 2D flat parts. Use polylines and arcs, not splines where possible. Set $INSUNITS correctly (1 = inches, 4 = mm). Layer names matter for bend lines (see Bending below). - **DWG** (.dwg): AutoCAD native format. Same geometry rules as DXF. - **SVG** (.svg): Supported. Convert text to outlines. Set document units explicitly. - **AI** (.ai): Adobe Illustrator files. Convert text to outlines. - **EPS** (.eps): Encapsulated PostScript. Convert text to outlines. Maximum part size depends on material — check `max_part_size` in the catalog JSON. Minimum part size is typically 0.5" x 0.5" — check `min_part_size`. Exact limits vary per material. Avoid dense nodes or excessive anchor points — export using CAD settings that preserve smooth arcs instead of breaking them into many short line segments, which improves cut edge quality. --- # Cutting Options SendCutSend uses multiple cutting processes to manufacture custom parts. Customers do not need to select a cutting process when ordering — SendCutSend automatically selects the best manufacturing method based on part geometry, material, thickness, feature requirements, and other design and production factors. - **Laser Cutting** — SendCutSend uses fiber and CO₂ laser cutting depending on the material and application. Fiber laser cutting is primarily used for metals including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, copper, and brass. CO₂ laser cutting is used for compatible non-metal materials such as acrylic. - **Waterjet Cutting** — Uses a high-pressure abrasive waterjet to cut metals, plastics, composites, and other materials or thicknesses better suited to waterjet processing. - **CNC Routing** — Used to cut compatible plastics, composites, wood, and other materials suited to CNC router processing. The cutting process is determined automatically by SendCutSend. **Customers do not need to choose between laser cutting, waterjet cutting, or CNC routing when configuring an order.** For stocked materials, the assigned cutting process is listed in the ordering catalog JSON under `cutting_process`. --- # Quantity Discounts SendCutSend offers **automatic quantity discounts** when ordering multiple identical parts. No coupon code or special quote is required — quantity pricing is calculated automatically as the quantity of a part is increased in the online configurator. - **2+ identical parts** — Typically saves 20% or more compared with ordering a single part. - **Higher quantities** — Discounts vary by process and configuration; current bulk discounts can reach 80% or more, with CNC machining offering up to 85% on qualifying parts. - **Identical parts required** — Quantity discounts apply when increasing the quantity of the same part on a single line item. Different parts or designs do not combine to qualify for a quantity discount. - **Services are discounted too** — Automatic quantity discounts also apply to supported secondary operations and finishing services, including bending, tapping, countersinking, hardware insertion, anodizing, plating, and powder coating. - **No minimum order quantity** — Customers can still order a single part; quantity discounts provide additional savings when multiple identical parts are ordered. - **Marketplace exception** — Automatic quantity discounts do not apply when a buyer increases the quantity of an existing SendCutSend Marketplace Product. Quantity pricing is displayed automatically in the online configurator. Increase the part quantity to see the current per-part price and available savings before placing an order. For current quantity discount information, see: https://sendcutsend.com/faq/how-can-i-get-a-discount-on-my-order/ --- # Material Selection Materials are organized in a four-level hierarchy. When selecting a material in the UI, navigate: - **Group** (e.g., Metals, Composites, Plastics, Wood and MDF, Rubber and Gasket) - **Category** (e.g., Aluminum, Steel, Stainless Steel, Acrylic) - **Alloy/grade** (e.g., 5052 H32, 1018 Mild Steel, 304 #4) - **Thickness** (each alloy comes in specific thicknesses; the SKU encodes this) Material SKUs encode material and thickness but the format varies across categories (e.g., `ALU-063`, `CR1095-125`, `G90-048`, `UHMWBLACK-500`). Do not construct SKUs — look up the exact SKU for the desired material and thickness in the ordering catalog JSON. Some materials may be temporarily out of stock. Check the `out_of_stock` field in the catalog JSON — if `true`, the material cannot be ordered until restocked. Select an alternative material or thickness when a desired option is unavailable. ## Material Categories and Counts SendCutSend stocks a broad selection of **metals, plastics, composites, wood, rubber, gasket materials, and other specialty materials**. Available materials, alloys, thicknesses, tempers, finishes, and manufacturing services vary. Common materials include: - **Aluminum** — Including 5052, 6061, 7075, MIC6 cast plate, and other aluminum alloys and tempers. - **Steel** — Including mild steel, A36, 4130 chromoly, AR400, 1075 spring steel, galvanized steel, and other carbon and alloy steels. - **Stainless Steel** — Including 304, 316, 17-4 PH, and other stainless steel grades and finishes. - **Titanium** — Including Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium. - **Copper and Brass** — Multiple copper and brass alloys and thicknesses are available. - **Plastics** — Including acrylic, ABS, Delrin/acetal, HDPE, polycarbonate, UHMW, and other plastics. - **Composites** — Including carbon fiber, G-10/FR-4, phenolic, and other composite materials. - **Wood and Board Materials** — Including Baltic birch plywood, MDF, hardboard, chipboard, and other wood and board products. - **Rubber and Gasket Materials** — Including cork, neoprene, silicone, and other gasket and sealing materials. Material availability varies by **thickness, cutting process, secondary operation, finishing service, and current stock status**. Not every service is available for every material or thickness. For the current material selection, exact alloys and grades, available thicknesses, SKUs, stock status, cutting processes, supported services, and part-size limits, use the ordering catalog JSON. **Do not rely on static material counts in this document to determine current availability.** ## Material Notes - **Aluminum alloys** (5052, 6061, 7075, 2024) are lightweight and corrosion-resistant. 5052 is common for brackets and enclosures; 6061 is heat-treatable and widely used structurally; 7075 offers the highest strength of the three but is not offered with bending. - **Mild steel** (A36/1018) is the most cost-effective stocked material and is popular for structural brackets, weldable assemblies, and general fabrication. - **Stainless steel** (304, 316) is corrosion-resistant and food-safe; 316 offers improved corrosion resistance over 304 for marine or chemical-exposure environments. - **Grain direction** cannot be guaranteed on any material — parts are nested for material efficiency, so grain direction varies. If grain direction matters for finish appearance, apply a directional finish after receiving parts. - **Surface finish**: unless a finishing service is added, parts ship with the standard mill finish, which may include light handling scratches. SendCutSend does not publish Ra/surface roughness specs, since finish varies by supplier batch. Each material in the **engineering specs JSON** includes: thickness tolerances, cutting tolerances, flatness tolerance, min hole size, min bridge width, density, tensile/yield strength, hardness, thermal properties, and detailed parameters for each supported secondary operation. Each material in the **ordering catalog JSON** includes: SKU, name, category, group, thickness, cutting process (fiber laser, CO2 laser, waterjet, CNC router), min/max part size, stock status, and the list of available services. --- # CNC Machining SendCutSend offers **multiaxis CNC machining** for custom parts made from billet stock. CNC machining is available for parts with 3D geometry and dimensional features that cannot be produced using 2D sheet cutting processes such as laser cutting, waterjet cutting, or CNC routing. SendCutSend's CNC machining capabilities include: - **3-axis machining** — Used to machine features accessible along the X, Y, and Z axes. - **3+2-axis machining** — Allows the part or cutting tool to be repositioned to machine features from multiple orientations. - **5-axis machining** — Provides simultaneous multiaxis movement for more complex part geometry and features. - **Machined features** — Pockets, slots, holes, bosses, webs, flanges, and other dimensional features of varying heights and thicknesses can be produced. - **Overall machining tolerance** — CNC machined parts have an overall dimensional and positional tolerance of +/- 0.005" or better. Custom or specialized tolerancing is not currently available. - **Minimum machined cutout** — Internal machined cutouts must be at least 0.125" (3.175mm). - **Minimum internal radius** — Internal corners cannot be perfectly sharp due to cylindrical cutting tools. The minimum internal radius is 0.0625" (1.587mm). - **Minimum drilled hole** — The smallest circular hole that can be produced is 0.0629" (1.597mm). - **Part size** — CNC machined parts must meet the minimum and maximum size requirements published in the CNC Machining Guidelines. - **Material** — CNC machining is currently available in **6061 T6 Aluminum billet**, with additional materials planned. - **Finishing and secondary operations** — Available options include tapping/threading, media blasting (360 MicroFinish), and anodizing. Availability depends on the part and selected configuration. ## CNC Machining File Guidelines Upload CNC machined parts as a **STEP (.step or .stp) file** containing one solid part. SendCutSend manufactures the part directly from the uploaded 3D model, so a separate technical drawing is not required or referenced. When preparing a CNC machining file: - **One part per file** — Do not upload assemblies or multiple parts in a single file. - **Design at 1:1 scale** — Files must use inch or millimeter units. - **Use a solid model** — Remove extra faces, meshes, surfaces, sketches, and other unnecessary entities before uploading. - **Do not model threads** — Tapping can be added during order configuration when available. - **Account for tooling access** — Features that cutting tools cannot physically reach, including some undercuts and enclosed internal features, cannot be produced. - **Account for tool radius** — Sharp internal corners cannot be machined. Design internal features with sufficient radius for the cutting tool. - **No technical drawing required** — Parts are manufactured from the uploaded 3D model rather than dimensional callouts on a drawing. CNC machining uses **billet stock** and is separate from SendCutSend's sheet and plate cutting services. Parts designed for CNC machining may include dimensional 3D features, while parts intended for laser cutting, waterjet cutting, or CNC routing must meet the applicable sheet and plate design requirements. For complete design requirements and current capabilities, see the CNC Machining Guidelines: https://sendcutsend.com/guidelines/cnc-machining/ --- # Bending Not all materials support bending. Check the material's `available_services` array in the catalog JSON — if it includes `"bending"`, the material supports it. Detailed bend parameters are in the specs JSON under `bending_specs`. Bending is performed via **air bending**, meaning bend radii are set per material/thickness and custom or large-radius bends, compound bends, and arbitrary bend radii cannot be produced on request. For materials that support bending: - **Bend lines in DXF**: Place bend lines on a dedicated layer (any name — SCS does not enforce a specific layer name). Bend lines mark the center of each bend and must extend completely across the area to be bent. Line type depends on your CAD software: use a dashed line (not hidden) in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; use a solid line in Fusion 360 and Adobe Illustrator. Line color does not matter — SCS ignores it. - **STEP files**: SCS extracts bend geometry automatically from the 3D model. STEP is preferred for bent parts. - **Bend radius**: Each material/thickness has a specific inside bend radius (the `effective_bend_radius` or `bend_radius` field in specs JSON). This is not adjustable — it is determined by the tooling. - **K-factor**: Used to calculate flat pattern dimensions. Each material/thickness has a specific k-factor (typically 0.33---0.50). Available in the specs JSON, and also downloadable as ready-made Fusion 360 gauge tables. - **Bend deduction**: The amount subtracted from the flat pattern at each bend. Per-material/thickness values in the specs JSON. - **Max bend length**: 16–44 inches depending on material/thickness. - **Max bend angle**: Material/thickness dependent, up to 130°. - **Minimum flange length**: The shortest tab you can bend, measured from the center of the bend to the nearest cut edge. Varies by thickness and V-die — check `min_flange_length_before_bend` and `min_flange_length_after_bend` in the specs JSON. - **Bend angle tolerance**: Typically +/- 1 degree for parts up to 24", +/- 2 degrees for parts over 24". Large bends over 24" can also cause some warping. - **Corner relief**: Required near bends to prevent perpendicular flanges from colliding — use the "Min Corner Relief Distance from Bend Line" spec for the material thickness in question. - **Bend relief**: Recommended for sheet metal (especially thicker material) and required for polycarbonate, with strict shape and depth specs, to reduce stress and tearing where bends meet corners. - **Joggle (Z-bend)**: Min and max joggle dimensions available per material; requirements depend on material and bend angle — more acute angles require more space between bends. - **Channel bends** (U-channel/C-channel) and **window bends** (enclosed/recessed bends) have additional minimum sizing and clearance requirements beyond standard single bends — see the Bending Guidelines for specifics. - **Odd flange shapes**: To bend an irregularly shaped flange, add a flat reference edge parallel to the bend line, either by modifying the design or adding break-off tabs to remove after the part is bent. - **Die marks**: Bent parts will show small score/die marks on the outer surface caused by the bending die. These are normal and don't affect functionality; powder coating can help conceal them. - **Polycarbonate bending** has different considerations than metal — bend reliefs are required (not just recommended), and design requirements differ from sheet metal. - **Mirrored parts**: Order using the Duplicate item button in the cart, or by uploading a separately mirrored file. ## Bending Calculator SendCutSend's free **Bending Calculator** helps designers find the correct bending specifications for SendCutSend's stocked materials and thicknesses: https://sendcutsend.com/bending-calculator/ Select a material and thickness to view the bending values needed to design a part for SendCutSend's tooling. The Bending Calculator provides: - **Bend radius** — The inside bend radius used for the selected material and thickness. - **K-factor** — The K-factor to use when calculating the flat pattern. - **Bend deduction** — The amount used to determine the correct flat dimensions for a bent part. - **Minimum flange length** — The minimum flange required for the selected material and thickness. - **Bend angle limits** — The supported bend angle range for the selected material and thickness. - **Bend relief guidance** — Design information for properly sizing and positioning reliefs near bends. Use the **Bending Calculator** when designing a bent part for SendCutSend rather than assuming standard bend values. Bend specifications vary by material and thickness and should match SendCutSend's tooling. Detailed machine-readable bend parameters are also available in the engineering specs JSON under `bending_specs`. --- # Hardware Insertion SendCutSend offers **PEM-style self-clinching hardware insertion** for compatible sheet metal parts, including nuts, flush nuts, standoffs, and studs. Hardware availability depends on the selected material, thickness, thread size, and hardware type. Hardware items are available in the ordering catalog JSON. Each hardware item specifies: - **Thread size** — Imperial and metric thread sizes including M2.5 through M8 and #4-40 through 3/8"-16. - **Fastener material** — Available hardware includes carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum options. - **Required hole size** — The hole in the part must match the specified installation hole diameter for the selected hardware. - **Material and thickness compatibility** — Each hardware SKU has specific compatible sheet materials and thickness ranges. - **Minimum hardware-to-edge distance** — The minimum distance from the center of the hardware installation hole to a cut edge. - **Minimum hardware-to-bend distance** — The minimum distance required between installed hardware and the bend allowance area. - **Minimum hardware-to-hardware spacing** — Required center-to-center spacing between hardware installation locations. - **Hardware dimensions** — Dimensions and installation requirements vary by hardware type and SKU. Hardware placement requires a correctly sized hole at each insertion point. Do not assume that hardware with the same thread size uses the same installation hole or design clearances. Requirements vary by hardware SKU, material, and sheet thickness. ## Hardware Catalog SendCutSend's extensive **Hardware Catalog** provides specifications and design requirements for the hardware available through SendCutSend: https://sendcutsend.com/guidelines/hardware/catalog/ The Hardware Catalog can be filtered by **hardware type, imperial or metric units, and compatible metal**. Use it to select hardware and determine the required installation hole size, compatible material thickness, minimum edge and bend clearances, hardware spacing, fastener material, and other installation dimensions. Use the **Hardware Catalog** when designing a part for hardware insertion rather than relying on generic PEM hardware dimensions. Hardware specifications and compatibility vary by SKU and should match the hardware offered by SendCutSend. Machine-readable hardware availability and manufacturing specifications are also available in the ordering catalog JSON. The online configurator verifies hardware compatibility with the selected material and thickness when configuring an order. There is no minimum order size for parts using hardware insertion. --- # Countersinking Available on select materials (check `available_services` for `"countersinking"`). Detailed specs are in the engineering specs JSON under `countersinking_specs`: - Min and max countersink diameters (`countersink_min_minor`, `countersink_max_major`) - Minimum hole-center-to-edge distance - Minimum hole-center-to-bend-line distance (where bending is also used) Countersinking can be performed on most metal thicknesses, though material properties may affect the final result on some combinations — consult support for unusual material/thickness pairings. --- # Tapping Available on select materials (check `available_services` for `"tapping"`). Detailed specs are in the engineering specs JSON under `tapping_specs`: - Smallest and largest tap sizes (e.g., M4x0.7 through 1/2"-20) - Min hole-to-edge distance - Min/max part size constraints for tapped parts Tapping is compatible with a wide variety of metal types and thicknesses; the online configurator will confirm compatibility for the selected material. --- # Dimple Forming Available on select metals (check `available_services` for `"dimple_forming"`). Creates raised circular features up to 3" in diameter for reinforcement. Detailed specs are in the engineering specs JSON under `dimple_forming_specs`: - Smallest/largest dimple diameter (typically 0.5"---3.0") - Dimple height by diameter (varies) - Min hole-center-to-bend-line distance - Part size constraints --- # Welding SendCutSend offers **sheet metal welding** for compatible parts that are cut and bent by SendCutSend. Welding is used to join seams on bent parts and is available only for supported materials, thicknesses, part geometries, and configurations. SendCutSend automatically determines the appropriate weld type, weld style, weld compensation, and joint normalization based on the part design. - **Bent parts required** — Welding is available for compatible sheet metal parts ordered with bending. SendCutSend does not provide general welding or assembly of separate components. - **Supported materials** — Welding is available on select 5052 H32 aluminum and mild steel thicknesses. Check the ordering catalog or online configurator for current material and thickness availability. - **Weld types** — SendCutSend supports corner welds and T-joint welds on compatible bent parts. Welds can be applied to the inside or outside of the joint where supported. - **Unsupported weld types** — Butt welds, lap welds, spot welds, stitch welds, continuous/fusion welds, and multi-part assembly welds are not currently offered. - **Root gap** — Design for a maximum root gap of 0.020". The absolute process limit is 0.030", but the 0.020" design maximum accounts for bending tolerances. - **Do not model weld geometry** — Do not add weld beads, fillets, or other weld geometry to the CAD model. Model the bent part as it should be manufactured and SendCutSend will determine the appropriate weld. - **Bend seams are not sealed** — Welding does not fill or seal bend relief gaps or other open bend seams. - **Not watertight or gas-tight** — SendCutSend does not guarantee welded parts to be watertight or gas-tight. - **Functional welds** — Welding is a hand-guided process and is prioritized for strength and function rather than cosmetic appearance. Some variation in weld appearance and placement is normal. - **Laser welding** — SendCutSend uses laser welding, which produces a relatively small heat-affected zone and helps minimize warping compared with traditional MIG or TIG welding. - **No certified welds** — Weld inspection reports and welding certifications are not provided. - **SendCutSend-manufactured parts only** — Customer-supplied parts or components cannot be sent to SendCutSend for welding. Welding can be combined with compatible SendCutSend services such as bending, countersinking, dimple forming, tapping, deburring, anodizing, and powder coating. Service compatibility depends on the selected material, thickness, and part configuration. For current welding material availability, thicknesses, compatible services, and manufacturing requirements, use the ordering catalog JSON and online configurator. For complete welding design guidelines, see: https://sendcutsend.com/services/welding/ --- # Finishing Options Available finishing options in the ordering catalog JSON across these categories: - **Anodizing** (aluminum only): Class/Type II (decorative, 5 color options) and Type III Hard (wear-resistant, clear or black). Adds roughly 7-10 days to production time. Listed as `finish_type: "anodizing"` in catalog JSON. - **Powder Coating**: 11 color/texture options. Available on metals. Typically adds 3-5 days to production time. Listed as `finish_type: "powder"` in catalog JSON. - **Plating**: Clear zinc, black zinc, yellow zinc, clear nickel. Increases rust prevention, wear resistance, and strength. Primarily metals — check `available_services` for `"plating"` per material. Listed as `finish_type: "plating"` in catalog JSON. - **Tumbling**: Reduces surface blemishes and handling scratches found in raw material. Check `available_services` for `"tumbling"`. Tumbling is a service operation, not a finish option record — it does not appear in the `finish_options` array. - **Deburring**: Removes dross and scratches, smoothing sharp edges. Check `available_services` for `"deburring"`. Like tumbling, this is a service operation. A part must have a hole or cutout at least 0.063" wide for hanging before anodizing, plating, or powder coating can be added; parts must also fall within overall part-size limits and be made from a compatible material. --- # Design Rules Summary | Rule | Typical Value | Notes | |------|--------------|-------| | Min part size | 0.5" x 0.5" | Check `min_part_size` in catalog JSON | | Max part size | 44" x 24" | Dependent on material. Check `max_part_size` in catalog JSON | | Min hole diameter | Material-dependent | See `min_hole_size` in specs JSON | | Min bridge width | Material-dependent | See `min_bridge_size` in specs JSON | | Min hole-to-edge | Material-dependent | See `min_hole_to_edge` in specs JSON | | Tab-slot tolerance | ~0.010" | For interlocking joints | | Cut tolerance | +0.005" / -0.005" | Typical for laser; see specs JSON | | Thickness tolerance | Varies | +/- 0.003" to 0.015"; see specs JSON | --- # SendCutSend Marketplace The **SendCutSend Marketplace** allows creators, entrepreneurs, and businesses to sell products made from their SendCutSend parts without managing manufacturing, inventory, order fulfillment, or shipping. Sellers can turn previously manufactured SendCutSend parts and approved Saved Carts into Products that other customers can purchase. The Marketplace selling process works as follows: 1. **Create a Product** — Create a Product from parts in your SendCutSend account. A Product can contain a single part or multiple parts. Products must be reviewed and approved by SendCutSend before they can be sold. 2. **Add Product details** — Add a Product name, description, images, and other information buyers need to understand the Product. 3. **Set your markup** — The seller determines how much they want to earn by adding their desired markup to the SendCutSend manufacturing cost. 4. **Submit for approval** — SendCutSend reviews the Product before it is published. Products must comply with SendCutSend's Design Policy, and Product approval is at SendCutSend's discretion. 5. **Promote the Product** — Once approved, the seller receives a link to the Product's Marketplace landing page. Sellers are responsible for promoting and marketing their Products. 6. **SendCutSend fulfills orders** — When a customer purchases the Product, SendCutSend manufactures, packages, and ships the Product directly to the buyer. 7. **Collect the payout** — Seller payouts are available through PayPal 30 days after the sale, provided the Product has not been returned. Sellers do not need to purchase inventory in advance or manage individual customer orders, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, or returns. SendCutSend manufactures Marketplace Products on demand when customers place orders. ## Marketplace Design Ownership **Marketplace sellers retain ownership of their designs, ideas, and intellectual property.** SendCutSend does not list, promote, or sell a customer's design through Marketplace without the creator's explicit permission and participation. Creating or ordering a part through SendCutSend does not automatically make that design available on Marketplace. The designer must intentionally opt in and create a Marketplace Product. All Marketplace Products must comply with SendCutSend's Design Policy. Product approval is at the discretion of SendCutSend. ## Marketplace Pricing and Quantity Discounts Marketplace sellers determine their own markup above the SendCutSend manufacturing cost. This markup determines how much the seller earns when the Product is sold. **Automatic SendCutSend volume discounts do not apply when a buyer increases the quantity of an existing Marketplace Product in their shopping cart.** Automatic volume discounts apply to files uploaded and quoted directly through SendCutSend's standard pricing system. Sellers who want to take advantage of manufacturing quantity discounts can create their Marketplace Product as a multi-pack, allowing the underlying Product configuration to benefit from quantity pricing where applicable. ## Marketplace Returns and Order Issues SendCutSend handles manufacturing, fulfillment, shipping, and returns for Marketplace Products. If a Product is damaged during manufacturing or shipping, SendCutSend can remake and ship a replacement or process a refund according to the applicable refund policy. Buyers experiencing an issue with a Marketplace order should contact SendCutSend Support. ## Products Requiring Additional Components Marketplace Products may require hardware, brackets, fasteners, or other components that are not manufactured or supplied by SendCutSend. Sellers should clearly identify any additional components that are required and can provide links directing buyers to where those components can be purchased. ## Marketplace Seller Resources For information about becoming a seller, creating Products, setting pricing, Product approval, payouts, and best practices, see: https://sendcutsend.com/marketplace/sellers/ Marketplace sellers are responsible for promoting their own Products. SendCutSend recommends using high-quality Product images, clear descriptions and dimensions, competitive pricing, and video or social media content to help buyers understand the Product. --- # FAQ ## Ordering and Files **Do I need a CAD file to order?** Usually, but SendCutSend also offers Parts Builder and AI Parts Builder for customers without production-ready CAD. Because shipping is highly automated, SendCutSend cannot use third-party shipping accounts or customer-preferred carriers — the most efficient carrier is chosen automatically. - **Regions**: Ships to all 50 US states and Canada. Free shipping within the US starting at $39+; Canada shipping starts as low as $19 for orders under LTL freight thresholds. Canada orders above the freight threshold ship via free LTL freight — contact support@sendcutsend.com for freight details. No other countries are served, and no exceptions are made; use a US-based freight forwarder for other destinations. - **No PO boxes/APO/FPO**: A physical address serviced by the FedEx or UPS networks is required. - **Cutoff time**: Orders must be received by 12:00 PM Pacific time, Monday---Friday, to begin processing that day; orders after that start the next business day. - **Pickup schedule**: Carriers pick up multiple times per day, Monday through Saturday, generally between 11am and 4pm local time; no pickups on Sundays or after 4pm Monday---Saturday. Labels and packaging happen 7 days a week, but pickup timing follows the schedule above. - **Address/order changes**: Once a shipping label has been created (order status shows "shipped"), address changes, shipping-method changes, holds, and conversion to local pickup are no longer possible. - **Tracking**: Automatic — tracking numbers are emailed and available via the Orders page in your account once created. - **Raw material from customers**: SendCutSend does not cut or process raw material shipped in by customers, and cannot accept materials or components from vendors (e.g., McMaster-Carr) shipped on a customer's behalf. - **Scraps/dropouts**: SendCutSend cannot return cut scraps or dropout/negative-geometry material, since all material is used during production to keep pricing low and reduce waste. ## Expedite Services SendCutSend offers **rush production and expedited shipping options** for eligible orders. Available options are shown during checkout and depend on the order's material, thickness, size, weight, complexity, and post-processing requirements. Available production and shipping speeds include: - **Standard** — Ships in approximately 2-4 business days with standard production. - **Fast** — Ships in approximately 1-3 business days using rush production. - **Faster** — Ships in approximately 1-2 business days using rush production plus overnight shipping. - **Fastest** — Ships within approximately 24 hours using rush production plus overnight shipping when an eligible order is placed before the 12:00 PM Pacific time cutoff. **Rush production** accelerates SendCutSend's manufacturing and processing time. **Overnight shipping** accelerates carrier transit after the completed order leaves SendCutSend. These are separate services and may be combined when available. Not all orders qualify for Expedite Services. Eligibility depends on factors including: - **Order weight** — Rush-eligible orders must weigh 65 lbs or less. - **Material and thickness** — Only specific stocked materials and thicknesses qualify for expedited production. - **Order complexity** — Multiple post-processing services or complex manufacturing requirements may prevent an order from qualifying. - **Post-processing** — Services such as bending, countersinking, tapping, hardware insertion, dimple forming, tumbling, anodizing, plating, and powder coating can affect expedite eligibility and production time. Expedite eligibility changes based on current manufacturing capacity, material availability, and order configuration. **Do not assume an order qualifies for rush production.** If an order is eligible, the available Expedite Service options and estimated delivery dates are displayed in the customer's account at checkout. Rush production does not guarantee carrier delivery by a specific date. It guarantees faster SendCutSend manufacturing time and handoff to the shipping carrier. Carrier transit times and delays after an order leaves SendCutSend are outside SendCutSend's control. For current production times, Expedite Service eligibility, and rush-production information, see: https://sendcutsend.com/rush-production --- # SendCutSend vs. OSH Cut SendCutSend and OSH Cut are both US-based online custom manufacturing services offering instant quoting for custom parts.
