To use our online Parts Builder, we recommend logging into your SendCutSend account first. Then select a template. From there, adjust units, dimensions, and feature placement, add bend lines if needed, and save your part before getting instant pricing!
We’re unable to share DXFs for parts created in our Parts Builder. If you want to modify a part beyond the options available in the Parts Builder, we can recommend designers who can help! We also have CAD tutorials for free software like QCAD and Inkscape.
We provide multiple resources for design help, including our online Parts Builder, trusted Design Partners, file setup and export tutorials, material selection tips, file setup FAQs, and service design guidelines!
We provide partial depth cuts in CNC machined metal billet. For sheet and plate stock, we only provide 2D perpendicular full depth cutting.
It’s not possible for SendCutSend to accept cardboard templates at this time. If you have a cardboard template of your design and need assistance turning it into a CAD file, consider reaching out to one of our trusted Design Partners. They’re familiar with our process and can help get your design cut-ready!
If you have a sketch and need it converted to a CAD file we can cut, reach out to one of our recommended designers!
If you don’t have a CAD file, there are multiple options available! You can use our free Parts Builder, enlist our Design Services for sketch-to-CAD conversion, or contact an available designer.
To export a STEP file from Autodesk Fusion, go to File > Export, select **STEP Files (.stp, .step) from the Type dropdown, name your file, choose a save location, and click Export. Before exporting, make sure your design meets SendCutSend’s guidelines and is set to either inches or millimeters at 1:1 scale.
If your STEP/STP format file is having trouble uploading to SendCutSend’s website for a sheet metal or plate part, ensure your design meets our 3D file guidelines.
Our tapping, countersinking, and hardware insertion services can be added to the top or bottom face of sheet and plate material. We don’t offer drilling into the cut edge of sheet stock. With billet, we can CNC machine holes into any side of a part.
Can’t add a service like bending/forming, countersinking, tapping, hardware insertion, deburring, anodizing, plating, or powder coating to your part after uploading your file to our website and selecting a material? There are a number of reasons why this might be the case. View the full FAQ to learn more.
We’re unable to send you the scraps or dropout pieces, also known as negative geometry, from parts you order. This is because all material is used during our production process in order to offer the best possible pricing and reduce waste.
All tap sizes we offer are listed in the tap size chart on our tapping guidelines page. To confirm available tap sizes for the material thickness you need, check the material details and specifications in our Material Catalog.
At SendCutSend we can make boxes as long as your design meets our guidelines. Customers often create boxes with our CNC sheet metal and plastic bending service.
At SendCutSend we don’t need technical or mechanical drawings with callouts thanks to our transparent guidelines and intuitive part configuration. Service definitions applied while building a cart remove the need for traditional CAD drawings.
