Using the correct hole size is extremely important when tapping sheet metal and plastic. We provide a thorough thread sizing chart of SendCutSend’s available thread options so that you can assure the correct hole size for your part.

Designing the correct hole size when preparing for tapping is important. Holes that are too large may cause the tap to strip out or fail. If the hole is too small, it will cause the tap to bind, create excessive heat, wear, and could result in a broken tap trying to cut too much
We currently have a variety of sheet metal and plastic materials available for tapping. You can quickly confirm which materials are available for tapping at our Processing Maximums and Minimums page.
You can powder coat bent/formed and tapped parts. Please be aware that die witness marks from the press brake will be visible through the coating. Also, you will have to chase any tapped holes to clear the threads once you receive the parts.
Make sure holes are no larger than 0.500″ and are at least the minimum required distance away from adjacent cut features. Please note, we only tap holes perpendicular to the top or bottom surface of parts.
