There will be some smudges, carbon scoring, fingerprints, and markings on your parts left over from handling both at our shop and after you unpack them. We do our best to keep all your parts looking great from machining to shipping, but sometimes a few fingerprints can’t be avoided. Luckily they’re pretty easy to remove, and we’ve got some tips for you!
Firstly, if preventing fingerprints on your parts is important to you, especially if you’re preparing them for spray painting, be sure to use nitrile, latex, or other surgical gloves when handling the parts. And definitely wear these gloves when applying the polishes we recommend as they can irritate the skin.
We have a few polishes that we’ve found work best for removing smudging: Mothers Mag Polish for aluminum and brass, and Bar Keepers Friend for stainless steel. Be aware that Mother’s Mag Polish turns black because it’s removing oxidation from your part. But it will look polished when you wipe it off!
If you have any other questions about fingerprints on your parts, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.
