Due to safety and procedural risks, SendCutSend does not cut or process raw material that is shipped to us from customers. Additionally, we cannot accept raw material or components from vendors such as McMaster-Carr per request for specific customers or projects.
At this time we anodize 5052, 6061, and 7075 aluminum. Many non-ferrous metal materials can be anodized, but aluminum is the best candidate and creates the most successful finish.
When you upload your vector file (DXF, DWG, EPS, or AI format) or STEP/STP format file to our website or use our Parts Builder to create a part, the orientation of your part as shown in the 2D part preview will be considered the top side.
If you plan to paint or weld your metal parts after you receive them, you can use acetone to clean them up beforehand and remove all oils.
The cut tolerance for each material depends on the cutting process for that material and specific thickness. You can find cut tolerance specifications for each stock thickness on the material pages in our Material Catalog.
SendCutSend does not offer a food safe production process for any service.
The minimum and maximum part size we offer changes depending on the material and its thickness. We have put together a chart broken down into four categories (Composites, Metals, Plastics, and Wood) so you can see all this information in the same place.
Aluminum, mild steel and stainless steel are the best candidates for powder coating. To confirm which materials and thicknesses are eligible for powder coating, take a look at our powder coating guidelines page.

Materials behave differently during machining, with capabilities and limitations that vary between materials and their thicknesses. That’s why it’s important to understand the tolerance of specific materials when designing your projects to be laser cut. Every material has a set of data for each available thickness. It’s important to understand the critical specifications and design requirements for your chosen material before uploading your part design file to our website for an instant quote.

We have a selection of sheet metal, composites, plastics, and wood/boards. You can also see material availability when you upload files to our website for an instant quote.
We receive material certifications from our supplier, which we can send to you upon request. You can use the certifications to trace the material back to the supplier, but we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy of each material certification.
Our minimum and maximum sizes for parts depends on the material selected. In most metals, we can ship parts up to 44″ x 30″, and even larger with a custom quote.
