The lowdown on our 6061 aluminum

Precipitation hardened for added strength, our 6061 aluminum is commonly found in structural applications where toughness and corrosion resistance are of high importance. That’s pretty typical for aluminum alloys in general, but what makes this 6061 series stand out is its heat-treatability. The heat-treating process further strengthens the alloy without robbing it of key properties.

For example, many of our aluminum variants are able to withstand tremendous amounts of vibration (also known as fatigue strength) making them perfectly suited for transportation applications. 6061 has great workability and weldability, though it’s inferior to 5052 in this area, it compensates by being much stronger. As compared to 7075, 6061 has greater workability and weldability, but lesser strength.

Simply put, our 6061 aluminum is an insanely versatile mid-range alloy and can be applied to many of your projects in construction, transportation, engineering, and electronics, among others.
